Feast Week November 21, 2011 {Meal Plan}

  • This is the week of at least three feasts for our family.
  • Our fridge is full of chicken stock, brussels sprouts, and charcuterie for our contribution to Thursday's meal.
  • I have five or six pie pumpkins to process into puree this week. I'll give some to pie-makers and freeze the rest.
  • To make the stock this weekend, we cooked several small chickens and picked off the meat. We froze some and need to eat the rest.

Meal Plan Monday - chicken soup with dumplings Tuesday - chicken burritos Wednesday - baked potatoes with broccoli and cheese, salads Thursday - turkey dinner at my parents' house with 20+ family members Friday - Alex hunting, dinner TBA Saturday - lunch and dinner at relatives' homes in Napoleon, Ohio Sunday - leftovers

The Hound family is together again! We know no better way to enjoy each other's company than to eat and cook together.

Ingredients & Inspiration

  • meatballs, chicken, pork in the freezer
  • broccoli, salad greens, asparagus in the fridge
  • homegrown herbs coming into season
  • two cousins graduating from high school this weekend
  • warm, wet weather forecast

Menu

Monday - Lil's dance parent observation day, Sushi Ting dinner to celebrate

Tuesday - spaghetti, homemade meatballs, homemade tomato sauce, steamed asparagus

Wednesday - brinner of backyard egg and broccoli fritatta, home cured Canadian bacon, cranberry bran muffins, and fruit

Thursday - grilled chicken and dinner salads

Friday - friends over for homemade pulled pork sandwiches on homemade buns, coleslaw, roasted beets and asparagus, mint juleps

Saturday - visiting Napoleon, Ohio for cousin Haley's graduation party

Sunday - visiting Springfield, Ohio for cousin Caleb's graduation party

  • Not a single evening activity! Yay!
  • Intern starting Monday (more on that tomorrow)

Menu:

Monday - barley mushroom soup with homemade turkey stock, popovers, salad

Tuesday - buffalo sirloin, au gratin potatoes, salad

Wednesday - tuna noodle casserole, baked zucchini boats

Thursday - pad thai

Friday - date night

Saturday - lasagna with homemade tomato sauce and homemade ricotta

Sunday - grill homemade hot dogs

 

Meal Plan July 18, 2010

Mindful MenusWe are home from an exhausting, challenging, beautiful Canada canoe trip.  I am processing nearly one thousand photographs and a multitude of emotions while settling into our everyday routine.  The garden greeted us with ripening fruits and vegetables, many of which are featured in this week's dinners. Monday - Braised goat ribs from Stratford Ecological Center, mashed sweet and homegrown cranberry red potatos, homegrown Parisian picking cucumber and Clint Eastwood tomato salad.

Tuesday - Pan fried ricotta gnocchi (Steamy Kitchen's recipe) with homegrown tomatoes and basil

Wednesday - Rachel volunteering and eating with Ohio 4-H/Labo international program, Alex and Lil make chicken, rice, and garden salad

Thursday - Rachel volunteering and eating with Ohio 4-H/Labo international program, Alex and Lil make spaghetti and sausage

Friday - Homemade pizza

Saturday - All day birthday surprise for Alex!  I told him where we are going and he already forgot.  We're perfect for each other, seeing as how I can't keep a secret and he can't remember plans!

Sunday - family birthday dinner for sister Megan & Alex: Grilled Red ribs, chicken wings, and brats, Ohio sweet corn, potato packets, green beans
